Chris Griswold

Chris Griswold serves as Secretary-Treasurer, Principal Officer of Local 986, one of the largest Local Unions in the Western United States. He also serves as a Trustee for Teamsters Joint Council 42. He proudly joins the OZ - Teamsters United 2021 slate as a candidate for At-Large Vice President.

Chris is a second-generation Teamster who became a proud member 46 years ago, at the age of 16. He began as an operations worker for Pacific Southwest Airlines and was soon elected as the Union steward. In 1985, he became an Organizer for Local 986. He later served as a Business Representative, Recording Secretary, and in 2007 was elected Secretary-Treasurer, where he has held that position for the last 13 years.

Griswold is also a Trustee on the Teamsters Miscellaneous Security Trust Fund that covers thousands of Teamsters and their families with health and welfare benefits and serves as a coordinator of the IBT Express Division - Western Region and a board director of the California Teamsters Hispanic Caucus.

Chris is recognized as a leader who believes in organizing new members, negotiating and enforcing strong contracts and providing members with the best representation. Griswold’s experience and knowledge will help strengthen our Great Union for our current and future members.
